Barbara Matera on An Overview of the Directory for Catechesis
At the Institute for Ministry Formation Catechetics Conference 2022, Barbara Matera provided an overview for the 2020 Directory for Catechesis.
Barbara Matera is a catechist for all levels of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) and a Formation Leader who trains new catechists. She is a master catechist and lay ecclesial minister for the Diocese of Pittsburgh and holds a master’s degree in religious education from Duquesne University and law degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Barbara directed CGS at her home parish, St. John Neumann in Franklin Park, PA, from 2003-2016. She is the author of several articles on liturgical catechesis for Pastoral Liturgy magazine, including “A Cause for Great Hope: The Directory for Catechesis and the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd” in the July/August 2021 issue and “The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd: A Way of Experiencing God” in the 2012 issue. From 2016-2021, Barbara served as Chair of the Board of Trustees for the United States Association of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
