With a new school year in motion, now it’s time to begin the catechetical year! Here in Latrobe, as well as around the world, children (and adults) are entering a very specially prepared space called the “Atrium”… a place to grow in love with the Good Shepherd, to learn to listen to His voice, and to prepare to respond with a joyful life in the sheepfold of the Church!
Our Assistant Program Manager, Anita Wright, heads up the local program and, together with wonderful catechists and assistants, will welcome more than 80 children from ages 1 to 12. Miss Anita prays with the the oldest group of children, while Program Manager, Bobbie Anne Abson enjoys time with the youngest age group.
You’re always welcome to schedule a visit if/when you’re close by!
This model of Faith formation – Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) – was first developed by a Scripture Scholar, Sofia Cavaletti, and a Montessori Guide, Gianna Gobbi, in Italy in 1954. To learn more about CGS, we invite you to visit the latest CGS-USA podcast: “Characteristics of the Good Shepherd Catechesis by Sofia Cavalletti” in particular starting at 4:00 mins.
