IMCA 631 – Overview of the Old Testament

This course will provide an introduction to the books and theologies of the Old Testament through the Pentateuch, the Prophets, and Wisdom Literature and introduce methods of interpreting and understanding the Old Testament especially in light of Dei Verbum. It will provide a knowledge of the principal stages of Israel’s history and the principal teachings of the prophets and wisdom books. Students will develop in the participant the skills necessary to represent the Catholic Scriptural Tradition to others.

This class will meet in person from 9am-3pm on Saturday, September 7th and Saturday, September 28th and from 9am-10am on Saturday, October 19th, 2024.

Additional Information:

This course is conducted in-person but may also be joined online through a combination of synchronous, interactive, in person or online video-conferenced meetings on Saturdays, reading assignments, and asynchronous online discussions and videos through the Schoology educational software platform. Like all IMF courses, it will follow the Saint Vincent academic calendar.

Note: While this course is available to anyone, it is a required course for Track 2 of the Catechetics programand will be taught with Catechetics students specifically in mind. All are welcome to take this course for credit or to audit.
