IMTH 750 – THEOLOGY OF THE BODY

This course explores the major biblical and theological themes of Pope St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body. It will also address the cultural and historical context of the Sexual Revolution to which the Theology of the Body is a response. Further consideration is given to TOB’s relevance to the LGBTQ movement and its challenges to Christian anthropology. The primary source for the course will be the second edition of the Theology of the Body text, Man and Woman He Created Them: A Theology of the Body.

This course is conducted online through a combination of synchronous, interactive, online video-conferenced meetings in the evening, reading assignments, and asynchronous online discussions and videos through the Schoology educational software platform. Like all IMF courses, it will follow the Saint Vincent academic calendar.

Note: While this course is available to anyone, it serves as an elective for the Catholic Theology Certificate, the foundational certificate for the Master of Arts in Ministry Degree. All are welcome to take this course for credit or to audit.
