Father Cassian Edwards, O.S.B., spent a year working in Louisiana as a youth minister immediately before coming to Saint Vincent Archabbey. Prior to his monastic life, he began attending weeklong seminars at the Theology of the Body Institute in Exton, Pennsylvania. He enrolled in a certification program for Saint John Paul II’s teachings and began working with missionary groups known as “Generation Life” and the “Culture Project” to spread the message of the Theology of the Body.

He entered the novitiate of Saint Vincent Archabbey on July 1, 2015, began studies at Saint Vincent Seminary in 2016, and made simple profession of vows on July 10, 2016. Following profession, he was assigned in 2016 as assistant to the director of Campus Ministry, Saint Vincent College, and a Benedictine resident in Bonaventure Hall.

After spending a year as a novice and three years in temporary vows, Brother Cassian professed solemn vows, or vows for life, on July 11, 2019 at Saint Vincent Archabbey, Latrobe, Pennsylvania, before Archabbot Douglas R. Nowicki, OSB.

Father Cassian holds a B.A. in Theology from Our Lady of the Holy Cross College, an M. Div. from Saint Vincent Seminary, and was recently awarded an M.A. and an S.T.L. in Liturgy from the University of Saint Mary of the Lake.

In addition to his courses with the seminarians, Fr. Cassian also teaches Sacramental Theology and Liturgy, Theology of the Body, and Catechesis in the New Evangelization for the Institute for Ministry Formation.
