Faculty
Dr. Helene E. Paharik of Greensburg is a member of the adjunct faculty of Saint Vincent Seminary. A 2007 alumnus of the Seminary, she earned a master of arts degree in New Testatment Theology, magna cum laude. She is a 1987 graduate of Seton Hill University, and earned her Ph.D. in theological studies from the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, with a dissertation entitled “A Theology of Mission as Participation in Friendship.”
She also serves as an adjunct professor of theology at Saint Vincent College, and previously served as associate general secretary of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, director of the Department for Human Life and Dignity in the diocese, and was a pastoral associate for Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg, and director of campus ministry at Seton Hill University.
She has led pilgrimage tours of the Holy Land since 2007. She spent the fall 1986 semester studying in Jerusalem, Israel, through the University of Notre Dame, and later spent three years living in Jerusalem with her family while serving as director of development for Dormition Abbey and its Beit Benedict Peace Academy.
She has published numerous articles in The Catholic Accent and Pittsburgh Catholic, as well as an article in The Priest magazine.
Paharik has received Seton Hill University’s Dolan Prize for Excellence in Theological Study and its Distinguish Leadership Award, and received the Salt and Light Award from the Diocese of Greensburg in 2005 for the “Bethlehem Project,” a ministry to prevent homelessness.
She serves on several boards, including the Board of Directors of the Diocesan Heritage Center, Greensburg; and the Board of Directors of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Pittsburgh.
