On March 25th the Church celebrates the Annunciation of the Lord when the Angel Gabriel appeared to the young virgin and asked for her participation in the Father’s plan for salvation.  Through her selfless response of “Magnificat” she agrees to the Father’s will is overshadowed by the Holy Spirit to conceive of Jesus in her womb.  Through this act of trust and obedience we receive the greatest gift ever given, Jesus the Lord.

Today we can pray confidently with the Universal Church, “O God, who willed that your Word should take on the reality of human flesh in the womb of the Virgin Mary, grant, we pray, that we, who confess our Redeemer to be God and man, may merit to become partakers even in his divine nature. Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.”
