The Marian Minute – Our Lady of the Poor

Our Lady of the Poor or Virgin of the Poor appeared to Mariette Beco in 1933 in Banneux, Belgium. Marriette, the eldest of seven children, and 11-years-old at the time of the apparition, was raised in a poor family with no interest in religion, and as such she struggled in her catechetical formation.

The Blessed Mother appeared to young Mariette a total of eight times in a garden behind the family’s small home.  Mary was described as wearing a white gown and an “unforgettable blue” sash as well as a transparent veil covering her head and shoulders.  Her right foot was visible and had been crowned with a rose between her toes. Mary identified herself as the Virgin of the Poor and promised to pray for the poor, the sick, and the suffering.

Our Lady of the Poor, pray for us.
